While Music for Montauk (M4M) was unable to hold its typical series of summer concerts, M4M will present a special performance virtually on Friday, August 28.
Steaming live from a NYC rooftop, The Overlook Quartet will headline the concert, which will air on Music for Montauk’s new YouTube channel at 6:30 p.m.
“We hope people make it an event…picnic, wine, lawn chairs, as they usually do…and share the amazing musical experience with their friends!” Lilah Gosman, Music for Montauk Co-Founder, expressed.
The Overlook Quartet consists of several Music for Montauk veterans, including violinists Monica Davis and Adda Kridler, as well as violist Angela Pickett and cellist Laura Metcalf of Sybarite 5. The group, which was founded in response to the Black Lives Matter movement, pays homage to the concert music of Black composers and songwriters. The Music for Montauk concert will highlight music spanning four centuries – from Mozart’s time with Marquis de St George to living composer Jessiee Montgomery’s Voodoo Dolls.
“The programming is original, relevant, and most importantly…GREAT MUSIC!” added Miloš Repicky, M4M Co-Founder.
The concert is expected to last about 45 minutes. A link to view the concert will be available on www.musicformontauk.org and the performance will be available for viewing throughout the weekend. There is no fee to screen the concert.
Additionally, M4M’s Vivaldi’s Virtual “Summer” – featuring Guillaume Pirard, violin; Monica Davis, violin; Jessica Meyer, viola; and Caleb van der Swaagh, cello – can also be found on M4M’s website.
