On Tuesday, June 20, Flow Tribe, a six-member New Orleans band, will be taking the stage at the Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett.
“It’s always exciting for us to bring our brand of backbone cracking music to the beautiful setting of the Hamptons,” said band vocalist and trumpet player K.C. O’Rorke.
Flow Tribe is made up of six New Orleans born high school friends who have been writing and creating music, and showcasing their songs during live shows since 2004, when they founded Flow Tribe. While life took the group in different directions after school, they reunited in their hometown after Hurricane Katrina hit and soon began helping the community revitalize and rebuilt the lively area.
“From a band that began their career performing for displaced Hurricane Katrina victims, the band has continued to tighten throughout the years, brewing southern swampy rock with that upbeat NOLA funk to bring something uniquely powerful, guaranteed to make you move,” Live For Live Music said.
The band, which recently released their new album, BOSS, combines hip-hop, R&B, soul, and rock, creating a distinctive sound that they have dubbed “backbone-cracking music.” Each live performance results in a celebration of music and color. “We can’t wait to share songs off our new album BOSS with everybody at Stephen Talkhouse,” noted O’Rourke.
The band’s new single, You Know What It’s About, was produced by Grammy nominated producer, Mannie Fresh, who has worked with Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz, The Notorious B.I.G., T.I., and other notable names.
“Flow Tribe makes what has been called ‘groove-based gumbo,’ a sonic mixing and melding of rock, funk, and R&B rhythms,” PopMatters reports.
The band is underway constructing their own studio in New Orleans East. While on tour they have crossed the country from California to the East Coast and made notable stops at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Fest, as well as Voodoo Fest.
“It’s gonna be a party don’t miss it!” added O’Rorke.
Flow Tribe’s show at the Talkhouse will begin at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10.
