The Sag Harbor American Music Festival will welcome the Joan Osborne Acoustic Trio – featuring Jack Petruzzelli and Andrew Carrillo – as the headline performer of its 2016 festival. Osborne is known as one of the greatest voices of her generation.
The Main Stage concert and fundraiser will be held at the Old Whalers Church at 8 p.m. on Friday, September 30th, and the Sag Harbor American Music Festival will continue on Saturday, October 1st and October, Sunday 2nd with free performances in locations around Sag Harbor, including Marine Park, the “Off Main” Stage next to the American Hotel, and local businesses such as Dodds & Eder, Sag Harbor Inn, and many more.
Some of Osborne’s most famous hits include (What If God Was) One of Us, Brokenhearted, and Heat Wave. She is a multi-platinum selling recording artist and seven-time Grammy Award nominee. Impressively, Osborne has performed alongside Stevie Wonder, Bob Dylan, Luciano Pavarotti, Emmylou Harris, Taj Mahal, and Patti Smith.
Osborne and co-producer/guitarist Jack Petruzzelli recorded the song Bring It On Home in 2012 which was later nominated for a Grammy in the Best Blues Album category. Osborne found herself particularly drawn to writing this album for personal reasons.
“Jack brought me some pieces of music,” remarked Osborne, “and as I started putting lyrics and melodies to them, the lyrics that I was coming up with started to present a theme. It seemed very clear to me that these songs wanted to be a record about romantic love, so I didn’t fight it.”
Audience members will find themselves particularly moved by Osborne’s commanding, emotional, and passionate performance.
The Sag Harbor American Music Festival launched in 2011. It celebrates the unique community of Sag Harbor and does so through a weekend of live performances of Jazz, Blues, R&B, Americana, Rock, Pop and more.
