Rising Stars Of The Irish Music Scene Featured In Pre-St. Patrick’s Day Performance

Nicole Barylski

On Friday, March 11th at 7:30 p.m., Sylvester Manor Educational Farm is preparing for St. Patrick's Day by hosting an evening of traditional Irish music from Méara Meara.

Taking place at the Shelter Island Presbyterian Church, the dose of spirited sounds will be led by Haley Richardson on fiddle and vocals, Keegan Loesel on uilleann pipes, whistles, and vocals, and Dylan Richardson on guitar, bouzouki, and banjo. The all teen band has performed across the Northeast and will even travel all the way to Ireland to showcase their talents at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann later this year.

"This is a group of award-winning young musicians with the talent, poise and repertoire to propel them into the top tier of the genre," said Tom Hashagen. "Catch them now, while you can!"

Their music is a mix of tradition and the sounds of today, and the trio certainly live up to their name, as Méara Meara means "lively fingers" in Gaelic. The accomplished musicians have already earned several accolades. Haley is a two-time All-Ireland fiddle champion and the 2015 Fiddler of Dooney, while Keegan has been named a Mid-Atlantic champion nine times and Dylan is a Mid-Atlantic medalist. Haley has also shared the stage with several notable names from the Irish music world, including The Chieftains, Altan, Dervish, and Pride of New York.

Méara Meara is about to embark on a short East End tour that will take them to Pierson Middle-High School in Sag Harbor on Thursday, March 10th, Peconic Landing in Greenport (with special guests Gabriel Donohue and Eamonn O'Rourke), taking place also on Thursday, March 10th, and Southampton Hospital (with special guest Eamonn O'Rourke) on Friday, March 11th, before their show at the Shelter Island Presbyterian Church.

Tickets to the concert presented by Sylvester Manor Educational Farm are $20.

Shelter Island Presbyterian Church is located at 32 North Ferry Road in Shelter Island. For more information, call 631-749-0626 or visit sylvestermanor.org.
