Earlier this summer, Australian-born landscape photographer, Peter Lik
, opened LIK Fine Art Hamptons in East Hampton - which highlights 45 of his masterpieces, his second Empire State gallery.
In anticipation of the Gallery's Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, July 13, from 6 to 9 p.m., we caught up with Lik his connection to the Hamptons, the beauty of the East End, the Gallery's year-round programming, and more
Tell us about your connection to the Hamptons?
My connection to any of my gallery locations is based on the beauty and culture of the area. East Hampton is no exception. One of the reasons I love New York is its incredibly diverse landscape. One day I'm staring in awe at some of the tallest skyscrapers in the world, and the next I am capturing a sweeping coastline on the eastern tip of Long Island. I have been blown away by New York since my first visit decades ago.
Why did you select East Hampton in particular to house LIK Fine Art?
The community is constantly buzzing with people enjoying life; shopping, dining, culture and nightlife - all against the backdrop of a landscape that is just as beautiful in winter as it is in summer. It feels right. The calm atmospheric energy and rich sophistication are the perfect complements to my collection.
Could you speak a bit about summer programing?

I am excited about this selection of work - which I handpicked to best represent the local landscape. Of course, there is also a choice selection of collector favorites that have stood out over the years.
Will the gallery be open year-round?
365 days of fine art photography. What more could anyone ask for?
What are you working on at the moment?
A lot! I never stop shooting, so it's hard to say what's next. Having said that, summer always draws me to the coast, so you can take that as a hint.
