Part two of the Tripoli Gallery’s fundraiser to aid Puerto Rico will take place on Saturday, April 28 from 4 to 6 p.m. This past November, the Southampton-based gallery held an auction featuring Puerto Rican Félix Bonilla Gerena’s paintings. Proceeds from the private auction were donated to Isabela, a municipality in the north-west region of the island. The gallery continues part two of this fundraising effort with a spring clothing drive and “send-off” party for Gallery owner Tripoli Patterson, who will travel to Puerto Rico to personally deliver the fundraising proceeds to the residents of Isabela.
“When you put love out into the world, it’s breathtaking how much of it you get in return,” Patterson reflected. “As we gear up for another fun summer out East, let’s not forget that Puerto Rico is still in need.”
Attendees, who will enjoy works by Harmony Korine, Benjamin Keating, Yung Jake, Quentin Curry, Matisse Patterson Simpson, Felix Bonilla Gerena, Miles Partington, Gordon Stevenson, and Jonathan Beer, are welcome and encouraged to bring donations of clothing and any other goods that may be useful. Those that are not able to attend are also welcome to drop off their donations before Wednesday, May 2, or make a credit card donation at the gallery.
The November fundraiser raised a total of $21,000. This was made possible, in part, by the many artists who donated their works for the auction: Linda K. Alpern, Alice Aycock, Matt Clark, Oliver Clegg, Bob Colacello, Quentin Curry, Pipi Deer, David Demers, Sabra Moon Elliot, Saskia Friedrich, Félix Bonilla Gerena, Jeremy Grosvenor, Judith Hudson, Yung Jake, Benjamin Keating, Curtis Kulig, Brendan Lynch, John Messinger, Lola Montes Schnabel, Amy Musto, Michael Netter, Akwetey Orraca-Tetteh, Miles Partington, Enoc Perez, Mark Perry, Renee Phillips, Dalton Portella, S.R. Reilly, Enis Sefersah, Dennis Snyder, Suzannah Wainhouse, Bobby Waltzer, and Nick Weber.
The gallery’s Instagram page will also be posting updates of the continuing restoration efforts in Isabela when Patterson travels there with Félix Bonilla Gerena next month.
“I invite everyone to lighten their winter loads and I will make sure it all gets to the people who need it most in Isabela,” Patterson added.
