Art Groove Adds Tea Dance To 2018 Collective

The eighth annual Art Groove Collective kicks off on Saturday, April 7 at Ashawagh Hall with its opening reception from 6 to 11 p.m.

This year's group is comprised of eighteen contemporary artists: Hans Van de Bovenkamp, Charles Waller, David Geiser, Phyllis Hammond, Geralyne Lewandowski, Anahi DeCanio, Michael McDowell, Joyce Riamondo, Laura Benjamin, Rosalind Brenner, Michael Cardacino, Gerry Gilberti, Barbara Bilotta, Frank Latorre, Beth Barry, Ingrid Torjesen, Greta Watson, and Mark Zimmerman.

Some new and noteworthy additions to this year's Art Groove include sculptures (in addition to paintings) and a "Tea Dance" to be held on Sunday, April 8 from 3 to 5 p.m. that will feature Disco, Motown, a "groovy mix" of music. Following suit with previous years, there will be live rhythm and blues music by Frank Latorre and The King Bees, as well as the Saturday evening dance party with DJ G-Funk's "hot dance mix," which goes from 8 to 11 p.m. and is both free and open to the public.

"Art Groove intermixes musical, performance and visual art to create an excellent, modern social experience," explained Geralyne Lewandowski, who organizes the annual Hamptons happening. "Art Groove celebrates each individual artist and connects with the community through music and dance. Art Groove is where creativity, unity and individuality come alive,"

Art Groove will be on display from 12 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
