From Kim Kardashian

to Lady Gaga
, everybody loves a good "selfie." The recent surge of "selfies" has helped renew the "artist" self-portrait. How does the social media phenomenon affect an artist's view of a typical self-portrait? Is it something an artist thinks about when deciding the format and style of a portraiture? Does it affect an artist's perspective at all? Guild Hall's new exhibition will examine these nuances and more.
The exhibit will debut during a panel discussion with many of the artists on Saturday, June 20th from 3 to 4 p.m., followed by a public opening reception from 4 to 6 p.m. A Members Only reception will take place in the Minikes Garden from 5:30 to 7 p.m. "Selfies & Portraits of the East End" will be on view through Sunday, July 26th.
Admission to the exhibit is free.
