The Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF) is offering a winter treat with two days of exceptional programming, which includes The Shining on Saturday, February 9 and Oscar Short Film Nominees on both Saturday, February 9 and Sunday, February 10.

The Shining screening will begin at 6 p.m. and a conversation with HIFF Co-Chair Alec Baldwin and Artistic Director David Nugent will follow.

"Alec and I have been hosting screenings of classic films in the winter for over a decade of a range of films, and we're really excited to check in to the Overlook Hotel for this weekend's screening of The Shining," Nugent noted. "Kubrick's masterpiece is one of the scariest films of all time, and Alec and I look forward to discussing it following the screening."

Stanley Kubrick's screen adaptation of Stephen King's The Shining stars Jack Nicholson as Jack Torrance, who takes a winter caretaker gig at the remote Overlook Hotel in Colorado as a resort to cure his writer's block. Jack makes the move with his wife, Wendy (Shelley Duvall), and his son, Danny (Danny Lloyd), who soon after is distressed by psychic premonitions. The move offers no solace to Jack's writers block and Danny's visions become increasingly more troublesome. Eventually Jack unearths the hotel's disturbing secrets, leading to a sinister chain of events.

The psychological horror, which has a cult following, was recently dubbed the greatest horror film of all time by Indiewire.

Presented along with Shorts HD and Magnolia Pictures, the Saturday Oscar Short Film Nominee screening will begin with Animated Shorts at 12 p.m. and Live-Action Shorts at 2 p.m. Sunday's viewings will start with Animated Shorts at 10 a.m. and Live-Action Shorts at 12 p.m.

"This is our 3rd year presenting the program of Oscar nominated short films, a number of which screened at our recent 26th edition," Nugent added. "These are some of the best films made each year, and viewers don't often get the chance to see them on the big screen so we hope they'll turn out for the chance to do so."

All three viewings will take place at Guild Hall. Tickets range form $10 to $25.

Guild Hall is located at 158 Main Street in East Hampton. For more information, visit hamptonsfilmfest.org.
