Anahi DeCanio, an artist and the creative director of ArtyZen Studios, is paying tribute to Mother Nature this year with eARThHAMPTONS, an Earth Day Art & Design Weekend Celebration at Ashawagh Hall in East Hampton.

"The exhibit will showcase works from Josh Hadar - Dan Welden - Jim Gemake, Christine D'Addario, Lori Horowitz, Geralyne Lewandowski, Michele Dragonetti and Anahi DeCanio," noted DeCanio. "ZCI Woodworks will be exhibiting beautiful benches and tables made from reclaimed lumber."

On Saturday, April 23rd and Sunday, April 24th, visitors can meet several local purveyors while exploring the best natural products from the East End. Attendees can peruse through goods from award-winning artists and artisans, as well as local earth conscious vendors like Hamptons Handpoured. Another highlight of the event is custom made furniture by Naula, who teamed up with Ascalon to construct a specially made ottoman called the Time Capsule that features a core of reclaimed magazines, instead of the wood structure that is typically used to make that specific type of furniture. The objective of the project was to capture a moment in time from our generation. So if in several years from now, magazines and paper publications become obsolete, the capsule project can be used by future generations to reflect on the past.

"In addition to outdoor vendors and Earth Day related activities, Toni Germie of Benjamin Moore will be making a presentation on color and sustainability practices, Interior designers in attendance can earn a Continuing Education Unit for this lecture which will also be of interest to the general public," noted DeCanio. "Master printmaker Dan Welden will be making a presentation of eco-friendly non-hazardous print making techniques."

The weekend will also feature The PRFCT Landscape, presented by Edwina von Gal. "Principal of her eponymous landscape design firm since 1984, Edwina has created landscapes with a focus on simplicity and sustainability for private and public clients around the world," DeCanio noted.

"Spring is a wonderful time of year to visit the area," she shared. "Gardens and fields will be flourishing but the shops and restaurants will be easier to navigate before the summer crowds arrive." DeCanio hopes attendees leave inspired. "This is a great weekend to feed your creative soul and enjoy the East End," she said. "Ashawagh Hall is just a few miles from the center of town and the famous home of artists Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner."

The Art & Design Show will be on display Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday afternoon will include Earth Friendly Vendors, a mulching mower demonstration, lawn games for kids, tutorials from Paul Wagner, Perfect Earth Project Lawn Expert, on how to brew compost tea and the benefits of soil health to landscapes, pest management alternatives, and challenges of managing pests organically, demonstration booths from Perfect Earth Project, Accabonac Protection Committee, tick info booth, and local toxin-free landscapers, and also a plant sale from the Springs Seedlings from 12 to 2 p.m. Later in the evening, an eARThHAMPTONS Art Opening Reception will take place from 6 to 9 p.m.

Presentations will be held on Sunday, starting with The PRFCT Landscape, presented by Edwina von Gal at 11 a.m. Next up is Toni Germie, Architecture and Design Representative from Benjamin Moore, who will discuss The Power of Color - Creating Healthy Living Environments with New Paint Technology at 12:30 p.m. The final lecture is Non Hazardous Printmaking Techniques with Dan Welden at 2:30 p.m.
