Hamptons Museum Debuting Teen-Focused PechaKucha Night

"We've had a handful of teens as presenters at the regular PechaKucha Night Hamptons and they always steal the show," said Andrea Grover, Century Arts Curator of Special Projects at the Parrish. "A focused evening of teen presentations is our way of bringing teen energy and brilliance to the Museum."

For the first time ever, the Parrish Art Museum will open its PechaKucha Night Hamptons to solely East End teen presenters. The special youth-focused event will take place on Friday, February 26th, as part of the Museum's Family Month, and the Parrish is currently accepting submissions for the program.

The Water Mill-based Museum hosts the popular rapid-fire lecture series, which often sells out in advance, four times per year. Typically during the evening, experts in several fields discuss living creatively on the East End. Previous PechaKucha talks have included artists, musicians, beekeepers, baymen, authors, DJs, chefs, and more. For the teen edition, presenters will use their own prepared script or notes to speak about what inspires them, as slides run automatically, projected behind them on a screen. Each lecturer will present 20 slides that switch every 20 seconds, resulting in a 6 minutes and 40 seconds presentation.

To be considered for Teen PechaKucha Night Hamptons, candidates must submit their presentation ideas covering what inspires them to programs@parrishart.org by Friday, January 15th. The entry must also include three sample images (jpeg format) and a one paragraph description of the presentation topic, as well their name, school, and grade level. Featured participants will be notified by Monday, February 1st.
