Southampton Arts Center (SAC) will introduce its Inaugural Architecture and Design Tour, which will showcase three Stanford White properties, on Thursday, July 26.
“SAC is thrilled to announce our inaugural Architecture + Design Tour featuring the iconic works of Stanford White that have long exemplified the ultimate in Hamptons elegance,” shared Tom Dunn, SAC Executive Director. “This opportunity to look back at the splendor of the Gilded Age here in the Hamptons is not to be missed.”
Stanford White is one of the most well-known American architects of the late nineteenth century. His firm, McKim, Mead & White, has established a reputation for building some of the most iconic buildings of the Gilded Age.
The event will begin at 11 a.m. with a Brunch at Southampton Arts Center. A talk given by architect Samuel White, great grandson of Stanford White, will follow.
All of the homes are located in Southampton Village and guests will have the unique opportunity to explore the stunning architecture of the last century, led by a knowledgeable guide.
“We’re also happy to share that our 2019 Architecture + Design tour next year will be focused on SAC and 25 Jobs Lane’s own – Grosvenor Atterbury – as 2019 marks the 150 anniversary of his birth,” Dunn added.
Addresses, the visiting schedule and a map will be disturbed during the brunch. Carpooling is strongly encouraged and this event will take place rain or shine.
“It’s great to be part of SAC’s foray into new territory as we expand our
outreach beyond our walls with this new event, our inaugural Architecture + Design Tour,” Event Co-Chair Mark Fichandler added.” My co-chair Ellen Scarborough and I, with our entire committee are so excited to present these beautifully preserved examples of Stanford White’s work.”
Tickets are $200.
