The Lobster Inn, an iconic Hamptons eatery located at 1 Inlet Road in Southampton, is up for sale again.
Back in 2012, longtime owner Skip Tollefsen sold the East End landmark to Peconic Bay Marina LLC and Peconic Bay Residences LLC. The Shinnecock Hills restaurant remained opened, however, the beloved locale, which had been operating on a month-to-month lease recently, closed its doors permanently back in October of 2016 after Eldad Levy, the landlord and president and CEO of Centrock Corporation in Manhattan, could not guarantee a lease for the summer of 2017.
Listed for $11.5 million, the prime waterfront property, which features 10 acres and approximate 3,000 sq. feet, can remain a restaurant, but, there is a variance in place for townhouses with the abandonment of restaurant use. As of yet, no site plans or individual lots have been approved. The property could potentially accommodate 13 luxury homes or 25 town homes.
“A buyer can bring his own imagination and amend or re-address what is approved by the town,” shared listing agent David Donohue of Douglas Elliman.
