On Saturday, September 26th, LongHouse Reserve is holding its Landscape Awards Luncheon. The afternoon will honor Dan Hinkley, who will receive the Landscape Award, presented by Jamaica Kincaid, and Elizabeth Scholtz, who will receive the Garden Leadership Award, presented by Scot Medbury.

"After a quarter of a century of interfacing with this house and its garden, their creator and his sense of grace, the LongHouse Reserve under the captaincy of Jack Lenor Larsen, must be indicted on many charges for the trajectory of my professional and personal life," said Dan Hinkley. "How many times have I placed a ceramic vessel in our home, or hung a textile, or approached any portion of my garden, without first questioning whether it would pass muster with Jack? He has guided me towards a greater responsiveness to the environment in which I dwell."

Before Hinkley is honored, he will give a lecture, In Search of Good Plants, at Hoie Hall at Saint Luke's Church (18 James Lane, East Hampton). Martha Stewart will introduce the honoree at his pre-luncheon event.

"I am honored and humbled to be recognized by LongHouse Reserve, yet its nod of approbation only articulates that I have in some manner gathered up the discriminations of a master," expressed Hinkley.

The Gardens at LongHouse open at 11:30 a.m., with the luncheon taking place at 12 p.m. The Garden Lecture by Dan Hinkley will be held at 10:30 a.m.

Admission to the Garden Lecture is $50 for LongHouse members and $75 for non-members. Tickets to the Luncheon begin at $250.

LongHouse Reserve is located at 133 Hands Creek Road in East Hampton. For more information, call 631-329-3568 or visit longhouse.org.
