American luxury car company Cadillac hosted an afternoon of 'The Art + Science of Enlightened Luxury' at the Montauk Beach House. During the brunch Hamptons residents Frank Dalene of Telemark and Richard Stott of Steelbone Design, were honored for their work in sustainable building.

Cadillac's Executive Director Global Design Mark Adams was on hand and spoke about how the brand is embracing its core philosophy, art and science, as well as its evolution. For those of you wondering what Cadillac means by 'art and science' Adams brought his British perspective and appreciation of the best aspects of America. "If you think about the things like the glamour of Miami or events like this, it is combing that arts glamour side with leading technology. Think about all of the things that have been pioneered here in this country."

The honorees also use leading technology on the job. Dalene, a Wainscott resident and builder of luxury homes in the Hamptons, embraces a similar slogan, "Bringing building into science." During the chat, the designing duo were proud to highlight a project they teamed up on, a modular home which suffered a house fire. The pair looked at the project as an opportunity to implement all the sustainable technologies used in the most synergistic way. Stott, an award-winning architect, said, "Not only could we help pull these people out of the ashes of their tragedy but also learn first hand which of these systems work and how to make them use best."

Following the panel discussion attendees had the opportunity to check out the new Cadillac ELR, the company's first extended range electric coupe which Adams believes is "the true embodiment of what art and science is." He believes the company has made quantum jumps in their execution and quality which is helped by the passionate design team.
