The ocean water at the beaches hasn’t even warmed up yet but that hasn’t stopped record-breaking crowds from flocking to the Hamptons. Huge traffic is nothing new for Manhattanites, but the Hamptons locals are not thrilled. If you were walking/driving about Bridgehampton and thought you saw someone who looked liked Simon Cowell it just may have been. The word is he and his “baby mama” Lauren Silverman are planted in Bridgehampton for the season. Reports also say Simon is hoping for a girl.
Speaking of record breaking, it was just reported this week that Billionaire Ira Rennert pays the highest property tax for a single residence in the New York State, New Jersey and Connecticut region. His sprawling 63 prime waterfront acres in Sagaponack, with the 64,389 square-foot cottage (I say campus) is reportedly valued at $248 million. His property tax bill is reported to be $649,281.00 a year. That’s huge until you realize Larry Ellison of Oracle pays over $800,000.00 in property taxes for his spread in California. If Ellison comes to the Hamptons to dock one of his multiple 400-foot yachts, perhaps he will spend a few bitcoins on a nice sized Hampton’s mansion.
Speaking of mansions, the “classy” Kardashians – Kourtney Kardashian with her kids and baby daddy Scott Disick and Khloe Kardashian – have settled (renting) in the Noyac/North Haven section of Southampton. I was hoping they would find a place on Ox Pasture in Southampton Village, but they chose to have a home that will enable them to pass the already mobbed MacDonald’s, 7/11, Duncan Donuts, and Burger King intersection every day while driving to their fake boutique “Dash” to film their reality show.
Lastly beware! If you see a tall thin moppy-haired dude taking photos south of the highway in the East Hampton Village or Wainscott area it may be the Sirius Radio recluse Howard Stern, who has thrown himself into a new hobby as a photographer, perhaps in an effort to get himself out of his room watching television. There are so many amazing photos one could take in the Hamptons no doubt Howard will enjoy this summer looking through his lenses.
