In the first floor parlor of a late 19th Upper West Side, restored-to-period brownstone, a small group of art aficionados listened as Opera Lafayette's Artistic Director Ryan Brown presented highlights from Ludwig van Beethoven's only opera. Brown fleshed out the scenes of a wife in men's garb sneaking into a prison to find her wrongly incarcerated spouse. Then, he conducted pianist Michael Fennelly to take on the roles of the four Chamber music instruments. Tenor John-Michel Richer sang the husband's aria and musicologist/musician Will Crutchfield explained how he had recreated its lost components.

Alexander Van der Bellen. Actor Nathan Lee Graham emceed the Ball, celebrating the cultural and economic relationships between Austria and America, connecting two continents, two cities and two centuries in one glamorous evening.

For the first time ever, LTV in Wainscott invited the public to attend a live taping of "East End Underground," LTV's landmark original-music show highlighting local talent. The taping featured Funkin' A and The Kenny Harris Project. EHM radio personality Harry Wareing hosted the evening.

The 16th Annual Love & Passion returned to its original viewing location, Ashawagh Hall in Springs. The yearly karyn mannix contemporary show featured plenty of artwork, of course, as well as Mindful Belly Dance Class with Kirah on Friday and an open mic reading of Love Letters on Sunday.

The National Board of Review gala at Cipriani 42nd was a star-studded affair. Martin Scorsese's "The Irishman" was selected as Best Film of the Year and "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" director Quentin Tarantino was named Best Director of the Year. Renee Zellweger's performance in "Judy" earned the actress the title of Best Actress, while "Uncut Gems" star Adam Sandler was named Best Actor of the Year.

Citizens 4 Humanity of the East End hosted its 7th season of giving back this year by providing gourmet meals throughout the holidays to families in need. For Christmas, Citizens 4 Humanity also spread holiday cheer to Town of Southampton seniors. Meals were delivered from Riverhead all the way to East Hampton.
