In-Person Learning Returns In Southampton

Following a week of virtual learning, Southampton School District welcomed back students for in-person instruction on September 21. “We would like to extend our thanks to all who assisted in planning for this school year despite the many challenges we faced,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Nicholas Dyno. “We are thrilled to have our students back in our buildings for in-person instruction.”

Jerry Larsen Sworn In As East Hampton Village Mayor

The East Hampton Village voters decided. On Friday afternoon, the NewTown Party candidates were officially sworn in at the Emergency Service Building Meeting Room. Jerry Larsen was sworn in as Village Mayor, and Chris Minardi and Sandra Melendez were sworn in as Village Trustee.

Sag Harbor Schools Return With In-Person And Hybrid Learning

Sag Harbor Elementary School and Pierson Middle and High School reopened with both an in-person and hybrid learning model. “This is certainly a unique time in education, but the past few days have illustrated the resilience of our amazing students and staff,” Laura Westhoff, dean of Pierson Middle School, said. “Even though we are smiling behind masks these days, it’s clear that there is positive energy in the building and everyone is excited to finally be laughing and learning in person. We look forward to a wonderful year with our students and families.” Students in pre-K through eighth grade will attend school Monday through Friday; students in Grades 9-12 will have in-person learning every other day.

East Hampton Town Chiefs Association Hold Annual 9/11 Memorial Service

On Friday afternoon, the East Hampton Town Chiefs Association held its annual 9/11 Memorial Service at the Hook Mill Memorial in East Hampton. Executive orders and local regulations limited the number of attendees to three per Fire and Police Department, including from the East Hampton Village P.D., Ambulance, Village Fire Department, and Town P.D., Sag Harbor Fire Department, Village P.D. and Ambulance, Bridgehampton Fire Department, Montauk Fire Department and Springs Fire Department.

Westhampton Beach Union Free School District Welcomes Back Students

An intimate al fresco charity dinner held in support of Food Bank for New York City and City Harvest took place at Topping Rose House in Bridgehampton. Hosted by Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, the gathering was supported by Emmy-award winning actor, Neil Patrick Harris, Chef and author, David Burtka, television personality, Rosanna Scotto, and Chefs Michael White and Alex Guarnaschelli. Attendees enjoyed a crudité platter created by Patrick Harris and Burtka, courses from the Scotto Family, White, and Guarnaschelli, as well as Aperol Spritz cocktails and wine by Chateau d'Esclans.
