The holiday weekend in the Hamptons looked a lot different than normal this year.

Normally at this time of the year villages across the Hamptons would be a buzz with excitement in anticipation of the holiday weekend and the unofficial start of summer. This year the Thursday before Memorial Day weekend saw lots of face masks and coverings and a lot less pedestrians.

Deputies, correction officers, the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, Fire Departments, Police Departments, and the New York State Police took part in “Thank You Parades” - complete with lights and sirens - that celebrated frontline healthcare workers at Peconic Bay Medical Center In Riverhead And Mather Hospital In Port Jefferson.

As a traditional graduation ceremony isn't possible this year, the Westhampton Beach School District is recognizing its Class of 2020 by lining its fence along Mill Road with giant posters featuring the faces of the 224 high school seniors poised to graduate this year. The initiative was overseen by board of education member Stacy Rubio, whose son is among the graduating class.

Smithsonian Institution’s traveling exhibition, "Water/Ways," made a splash in the Hamptons during a celebratory soiree at Clinton Academy Museum in East Hampton. Presented by the East Hampton Historical Society, in cooperation with the Museum Association of New York (MANY), the exhibition explores the vitality of water. The exhibition will be on view through Saturday, April 11.

LongHouse Reserve supporters gathered at Hearst Tower in Manhattan for cocktails, an award presentation and dialogue with honorees Cindy Allen, editor in chief of "Interior Design" and Joseph Walsh, master furniture artist, during The LongHouse Winter Benefit in New York City. The evening concluded with the gala dinner held at the American Irish Historical Society Mansion in Manhattan.

"Joyous," we heard Ellen Burstyn exclaim, after the standing ovations. "He takes such obvious delight," Barbara Tober enthused to Mary McFadden and Peter Thomas Roth, at the Budapest Festival Orchestra Gala Dinner that followed.
