"Imagine if you are a child in foster care and there are no caring uncles and aunts around," Pediatrician Dr. Penny Grant told us. With that in mind, Dr. Grant introduced us to Culture for One at the Fall Lunch she co-hosted. They provide cultural excursions, creative workshops, arts scholarships, and mentoring for foster kids to facilitate healing and empowerment.

Teens for Food Justice (TFFJ) held its annual gala, "Feast 2018 with Chef David Laris," an immersive dinner theatre experience at Tribeca Rooftop. The evening celebrated international superstars Emilio and Gloria Estefan, model and actress Karolína Kurková and her husband Archie Drury. Proceeds from the event will support TFFJ's mission to galvanize a youth-led movement to eradicate food insecurity in one generation.

The Dominican Women’s Development Center, the largest independent Dominican founded organization in the United States, hosted their 30th Anniversary Gala at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars in support of the Center’s diverse programs for Latina women and families of the Washington Heights community. The evening celebrated composer, lyricist, and actor Lin-Manuel Miranda, and other notable people, including philanthropist Jean Shafiroff.

"Year after year Jackie manages to pull it all together." Indeed, Casita Maria's Chairman Jacqueline Weld Drake presides over one of Manhattan's most elegant evenings. Where else could our designer, sequined, fishtail gown be lauded for "understatement"?
