Ann Liguori hosted her 22nd Annual Ann Liguori Foundation (ALF) Charity Golf Classic at the Maidstone Club in East Hampton, benefitting cancer research, prevention and care, including the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation, Kids Need More and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This year’s honoree was Jason Dove, President, Platinum Inc., who accepted the ALF Business Honoree Award.

Virtual Learning Continues At Southampton

Learning in the Southampton School has changed significantly since COVID-19, with students participating in the district’s hybrid, in-person and all-remote educational plans. “We are fortunate to have dedicated teachers who provide daily direct instruction to our remote students,” said Jeremy Garritano who is coordinating the remote learning teams and supporting building level administrators. “Already, it has proven successful and we are receiving a lot of great feedback from families and students.”

Westhampton Beach Middle Schoolers Make Masks For Those In Need

Kathleen Ciancio’s seventh and eighth grade family and consumer sciences students at Westhampton Beach Middle School put their sewing skills into practice as they learned how to stitch their own face masks using pins, fabric and sewing machines. The students plan to make more for those in need.

October 14 will mark the end of a wonderful first month of in-person education for pre-K and kindergarten students at the new Sag Harbor Learning Center. “While the primary design focus was on child development and early childhood education, we’ve also ensured that the latest in health, safety and security measures are in place, such as hands-free technology in the bathrooms,” Sag Harbor Elementary School principal Matthew Malone explained.

Barbara Tober arrived at the CODAsummit virtual opening vernissage as a unicorn. The annual conference on the intersection of art, technology, and commissioned public art, originally planned to take place in Denver, was instead presented as an Alt Ethos virtual event hosted on Second Life. Among the guests were many of the artists and designers making CODAsummit keynote presentations including School of Visual Arts MFA Program Director David Ross, NPR’s Laura Sydell, The Whitney Museum’s Christiane Paul, artists including Gail Folwellt and Bill FitzGibbons, designers including Edwin Schlossberg and Melissa Borrell, Christy MacClear, the CEO of Superblue, and Roberta Bloom, the head of the Aurora Art in Public Places Commission.

East Hampton Village Celebrates Centennial Anniversary

With the exterior renovation work on East Hampton Village Hall as a backdrop, on Friday morning New York State Assemblyman Fred Thiele presented a "Legislative Resolution" celebrating the Village's Centennial. The Resolution was co-sponsored by Senator Kenneth LaValle. Special guests included East Hampton Village former Mayor Paul Rickenbach, Jr. and East Hampton Historical Society Executive Director Maria Vann. East Hampton Town History expert Hugh King spoke about the special day to a purposely small crowd, including newly elected Mayor Jerry Larsen, Deputy Mayor Chris Minardi and Trustee Sandra Melendez.

Four Westhampton Beach High School Seniors Commended In National Merit Program

Ellen Floegel, Joshua Kaplan, Jane Paulson and John Shannon have been recognized as Commended Students in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program. The Westhampton Beach High School seniors are among 34,000 students throughout the nation that have earned this distinction and are being lauded for their “exceptional academic promise.” To achieve this feat, students must place among the top 5% of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the PSAT.
