East End Against Hate's Sag Harbor Protest And March Supported By Hundreds

There was another strong turnout for a protest and march against police brutality and racism in Sag Harbor that was organized by the recently formed East End Against Hate, a student-led anti-racism group. Protestors gathered at Steinbeck Park, and then marched throughout the village. In the middle of Main Street, protestors lied down for eight minutes and 46 seconds shouting, “I can’t breathe” and “George Floyd.”

George Floyd Memorial In Southampton Draws Hundreds

Hundreds attended a memorial for George Floyd and other black lives who have suffered under police brutality and oppressive racism in Southampton Village on June 4, under sweltering heat and COVID-19 preparations. The mood was somber and commemorative as Dr. Richard 'Junie' Wingfield opened the ceremonies with a Maya Angelou quote.

More Than 1,000 Protestors March In Solidarity Through Southampton Village

Over 1,500 people marched in Southampton Village to end police brutality and systemic racism on Thursday night. Held at 6:00 p.m., the protest was very youthful and impassioned, with less care for social distancing than previous gatherings on the East End. Pain and anger were on display, and yet protestors maintained a seriousness about the activities throughout.

Lisa Votino, Lisa Gagliardo, and Willie Jenkins organized Justice for George Floyd Protest and March in Bridgehampton, which drew hundreds of supporters. "We are moved to action after the vicious and callous murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police. We stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters all over the country who demand an end to racist policing," the Justice for George Floyd Protest and March Facebook page states.

Westhampton Beach High School Celebrates Class Of 2020 With Spirited Parade

Westhampton Beach High School’s Class of 2020 was recognized with a high-spirited parade on the sunny morning of June 2. Decked out in green, the car parade of graduating seniors drove past posters on Mill Road honoring them and then circled the high school, where they were cheered on by teachers, staff and administrators.

Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation Partners With Heart Of The Hamptons To Provide Pet Food To Those In Need

568 pounds of dog food, as well as 227 pounds of cat food was distributed to those in need thanks to Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation and Heart of the Hamptons. “This was a wonderful experience for all of us. The Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation came together with the Heart of Hamptons with an aligned mission of helping families during this time,” Tracy McLaren, SASF Adoptions, Advo-cats (Feral cat TNR program) and Pet Food Pantry coordinator, said.

"Thank You Parade" Celebrates Stony Brook University Hospital Staff

The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, University Police, and Setauket Fire Department took part in a “Thank You Parade” that paid tribute to frontline healthcare workers at Stony Brook University Hospital Staff. The caravan of vehicles, trucks, and motorcycles traveled past Stony Brook University Children’s Hospital in Stony Brook as staff admired the event from the front of the building and from the many windows of the floors above.
