It worked out perfectly... exactly 500 pies. Thanks to the tireless culinary efforts of six local bakers and to The Hedges Inn for providing the kitchen, 300 East Hampton families and 200 Springs families each found a fresh, homemade pumpkin pie among their food pantry goods this week. Supporting the effort were the East Hampton Village PBA, East Hampton Village Fire Department, East Hampton Village Ambulance, East Hampton Village Police Department and East Hampton Village Mayor Jerry Larsen's office.

Southampton Elementary School’s Opening Act Club, Southampton Intermediate School’s Early Act Club and Southampton High School’s Interact Club worked with the Southampton Rotary Club during the week of November 23 to fill hundreds of boxes with food. The boxes were distributed to local food banks for those in need for Thanksgiving.

The Humane Society of the United States' 2020 To the Rescue! virtual gala raised over 2 million dollars in support of the organization’s animal rescue efforts. “Saturday Night Live” cast member Cecily Strong hosted the event, which included a performance from Tony, Grammy and Emmy award-winning singer and actor Audra McDonald - who hosted the pre-show. To the Rescue! also included guest appearances from Liev Schreiber, Mena Suvari, Rob and Marisol Thomas, Nathan Turner, Dylan Lauren, Katie Sturino, gala chair Georgina Bloomberg and Kitty Block, president and CEO of the Humane Society of the United States.

Hundreds of "attendees" joined Surgeons of Hope for its 8th annual Celebrating Our Heart Heroes gala, held virtually. Chaired by philanthropist and author Jean Shafiroff, the evening exceeded its fundraising goals. Proceeds from the soiree will support Surgeons of Hope's efforts to train local pediatric cardiac teams and provide lifesaving surgery for poor children with heart conditions in Latin America in 2021.

To thank the brave men and women who are currently serving in the armed forces and those that have retired, Sag Harbor Elementary School students filmed a touching tribute in honor of Veterans Day. The American Cancer Society (ACS) hosted the 15th annual Taste of Hope virtual celebration, which commemorated New York City’s iconic restaurant industry and raised critical funds for cancer research and local patient service programs offered by ACS. Chef Michael White (Marea) and Chef Joseph ‘JJ’ Johnson (Fieldtrip) were honored, while Mark D. Friedman and Jamie Koff returned as event co-chairs, and CBS News’ Chris Wragge returned at emcee. The event featured a special performance by Sting, and appearances by Giancarlo Esposito, Mario Cantone, NFL Hall of Famer Harry Carson, Amy Ryan, Peter Onorati, Harry Lennix, Alysia Reiner, and Bobby Cannavale.

Hampton Bays veterans were commemorated during the first Veterans Day car parade at Hampton Bays Elementary School. Wearing red, white and blue and waving American flags, fourth graders lined the school’s traffic circle to celebrate the veterans. The celebratory parade wrapped up a week of learning about the importance of Veterans Day.

Guild Hall in East Hampton commemorated All Hallows' Eve with a duo of programming - one spine-chilling and the other family friendly. Liz Joyce & A Couple Of Puppets: Minkie's Halloween Adventure enchanted little ones, while Stage Fright featured four hair-raising tales. "The production, eerily perfect, demonstrated how starved we all are for theatre," said Stage Fright attendee Catherine Gropper.
