Local Pilot And Flight Instructor And East Hampton Police Officer Lead ARF Rescue Mission

Local pilot and flight instructor Charles Caravan and Brian LaBelle, an East Hampton Police Officer and pilot in the process of being recertified, flew to Camden, South Carolina to meet Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons' (ARF) rescue partner to pick up 15 puppies, who arrived at the East Hampton Airport on Friday evening. After being medically cleared by ARF veterinarians, they will be put up for adoption. LaBelle not only offered his plane for the rescue transport, but he also offered to cover all expenses.

Pierson Middle Schoolers' "Winter Wars" Focus On Those In Need

Prior to winter break, Pierson Middle Schoolers took part in "winter wars" - which included themed activities, including athletic challenges and trivia games. The students also learned about empathy while penning letters to people struggling during the pandemic and holiday season.

The Montauk Fire Department Provides Free Holiday Meal For Seniors

The Montauk Fire Department followed pandemic guidelines on Sunday at the Firehouse, as this year's (free) Holiday Dinner for Seniors was "Grab 'n Go" from the safety of your car. Complete traditional Holiday meals, from squash soup to apple pie, were individually bagged and ready for hand off. Home delivery was also available for anyone who couldn't make it.

The Harrison and Shelby Memorial Fund was created in 2018 by the Central Indiana Tennis Foundation to honor "the short lived yet impactful lives of the the two teens who were so special to many". On Saturday evening their mother, and Tennis Professional, Stephanie Reece and Stephanie's Aunt, East Hampton's Dale Ellen Leff, held a charity fundraiser at Jennifer Miller Jewelry of East Hampton's "Shopping Cove", 55 Main Street.

Community Members Bake 500 Pies For Local Food Pantries

It worked out perfectly... exactly 500 pies. Thanks to the tireless culinary efforts of six local bakers and to The Hedges Inn for providing the kitchen, 300 East Hampton families and 200 Springs families each found a fresh, homemade pumpkin pie among their food pantry goods this week. Supporting the effort were the East Hampton Village PBA, East Hampton Village Fire Department, East Hampton Village Ambulance, East Hampton Village Police Department and East Hampton Village Mayor Jerry Larsen's office.

Southampton Students Help Box Up Thanksgiving Meals For Local Food Banks

Southampton Elementary School’s Opening Act Club, Southampton Intermediate School’s Early Act Club and Southampton High School’s Interact Club worked with the Southampton Rotary Club during the week of November 23 to fill hundreds of boxes with food. The boxes were distributed to local food banks for those in need for Thanksgiving.

The Humane Society of the United States' 2020 To the Rescue! virtual gala raised over 2 million dollars in support of the organization’s animal rescue efforts. “Saturday Night Live” cast member Cecily Strong hosted the event, which included a performance from Tony, Grammy and Emmy award-winning singer and actor Audra McDonald - who hosted the pre-show. To the Rescue! also included guest appearances from Liev Schreiber, Mena Suvari, Rob and Marisol Thomas, Nathan Turner, Dylan Lauren, Katie Sturino, gala chair Georgina Bloomberg and Kitty Block, president and CEO of the Humane Society of the United States.

Surgeons Of Hope Host Virtual Celebrating Our Heart Heroes Gala

Hundreds of "attendees" joined Surgeons of Hope for its 8th annual Celebrating Our Heart Heroes gala, held virtually. Chaired by philanthropist and author Jean Shafiroff, the evening exceeded its fundraising goals. Proceeds from the soiree will support Surgeons of Hope's efforts to train local pediatric cardiac teams and provide lifesaving surgery for poor children with heart conditions in Latin America in 2021.

The American Cancer Society (ACS) hosted the 15th annual Taste of Hope virtual celebration, which commemorated New York City’s iconic restaurant industry and raised critical funds for cancer research and local patient service programs offered by ACS. Chef Michael White (Marea) and Chef Joseph ‘JJ’ Johnson (Fieldtrip) were honored, while Mark D. Friedman and Jamie Koff returned as event co-chairs, and CBS News’ Chris Wragge returned at emcee. The event featured a special performance by Sting, and appearances by Giancarlo Esposito, Mario Cantone, NFL Hall of Famer Harry Carson, Amy Ryan, Peter Onorati, Harry Lennix, Alysia Reiner, and Bobby Cannavale.
