Animal Rescue Fund Of The Hamptons Holds Pet Food Pantry Pick Up Day

We hear a lot about food pantries for people in need these days, but pets are "people," too. On Saturday, July 11, Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons (ARF) in Wainscott collected donations of pet food for our furry friends. On Saturday, July 18, cars lined up at ARF to collect the donations (socially distanced, of course). Executive Director and CEO Scott Howe was on the front lines with the volunteers, handing out the goodies.

Hope For Depression Research Foundation Kicks Off Virtual Race Of Hope With Drive-by Luncheon

Hope for Depression Research Foundation (HDRF) hosted its first-ever Race of Hope Drive-By Lunch in Southampton to thank top donors and kick off the Virtual Race of Hope which will bring together hundreds of runners across the nation this summer to raise mental health awareness. Traditionally, the Race of Hope takes place in Southampton every summer and has been one of the charity’s signature events since 2015. This year, the Race will go virtual with an online opening ceremony and countdown on August 2, 2020.

With its 16 acre sculpture garden, Jack Lenor Larson's LongHouse Reserve is uniquely positioned for our new social — at a distance — ethos. LongHouse is one of the few cultural spaces in the Hamptons able to open this summer. And they brought in the world famous exhibition of Ai Weiwei's Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads: Bronze, July 8, on view through October 2021. To celebrate, the Reserve threw an outdoor soiree for about 20 friends and donors.

Pierson High School Class Of 2020 Celebrate Graduation

The 71 students in the Pierson High School Class of 2020 took their bold first steps toward an exciting future. Despite the pandemic and heavy rain, a socially distanced graduation was held on the beautiful lawn in front of the high school, with family and friends watching from their cars. Sag Harbor School District Superintendent Jeff Nichols welcomed everyone and congratulated the seniors. Valedictorian Ruby Yassen, who will attend the University of California, Los Angeles in the fall told the crowd, “It truly seems like a miracle, and of course there may come a storm at any minute, but we made it here and are having our ceremony on the hill like so many grades before us.”

East Hampton's Guild Hall Celebrates Museum Re-Opening

Drive-Through Ceremony Held For Southampton High School Class Of 2020

The Southampton High School Class of 2020 received their diplomas during a drive-through ceremony at the high school. Graduates and their loved ones arrived in decorated cars and paraded to a festive podium, where they were given their diplomas. The celebration concluded with a cap toss and yearbook signing. Prior to the ceremony, the district hosted a drive-through celebration that provided seniors with the chance to wave goodbye to their teachers and their school.

The Hampton Bays High School Class of 2020 was presented with their diplomas during drive-through commencement ceremonies held on June 26 and 27. Superintendent Lars Clemensen spoke about each senior’s accomplishments as family members documented the moment. In addition to their diplomas, seniors also received adopt-a-senior gift bags featuring items donated by generous community members and businesses. In addition to the drive-through ceremony, the Class of 2020 was also celebrated during a graduation parade over the Ponquogue Bridge and a parade through the district’s three campuses, as well as a virtual graduation ceremony.
