To commemorate World Elephant Day and World Lion Day, Empowers Africa, a non-profit dedicated to Sub-Saharan Africa conservation, hosted its annual film festival. Presented at Southampton Arts Center (SAC), film-goers gathered on the lawn of SAC to enjoy a series of short and long documentaries.

The 16th Annual Hamptons Happening, the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation (SWCRF) signature summer soiree, went virtual this year. Party-goers hosted their own private viewing parties, where they were treated to a concert featuring Sophie Beem, Caly Bevier, Rufus Wainwright, Sophie B. Hawkins, Constantine Maroulis and Steven Reineke. This year's Hamptons Happening honored COVID-19 first responders and Rajeev Fernando, M.D., the Director of Infectious Diseases at the Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, spoke on behalf of first responders.

NAIA Hamptons and Michael Pitsinos presented A Sunday Art Soiree in benefit of the Stony Brook Southampton Hospital at the Capri Hotel in Southampton. Jean Shafiroff hosted the gathering, while Bill McCuddy served as Master of Cermonies. The evening featured artwork by John Mosler, Costas Picadas, Domingo Zapata and Christopher Pugliese.

JAJA Tequila presented ‘Safe & Sound’, the first drive-in concert fundraiser headlined by Grammy Award Winning duo The Chainsmokers. In partnership with Bumble, thousands of attendees flocked to Nova’s Ark Project in Water Mill for the controversial benefit concert for No Kid Hungry, Southampton Fresh Air Home and Children’s Medical Fund of New York that drew ire for the lack of social distancing and volume of attendees. Southampton Village Mayor Jesse Warren emceed the evening while guests enjoyed performances by David Solomon (DJ D-Sol), singer-songwriter Matt White and Southampton Town Supervisor, Jay Schneiderman. Attendees included Cuba Gooding Jr., Danielle Bernstein, Isaac Calpito, Jon Boy, Chantel Jeffries, Andrew Warren, and more. In The Know Experiences and Invisible Noise Productions produced the evening.

On Friday morning, Montauk Library Director Denise DiPaolo welcomed (properly socially distanced) guests to The Montauk Library Expansion and Renovation Building Project Groundbreaking Ceremony. According to Library Board President Joan Lycke, the event was a celebration of the Library's Trustees, past and present, including one of the originals, John Keeshan, who was in attendance. East Hampton Town Supervisor Peter Van Scoyoc and NYS Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. expressed their appreciation of the Library and its essential role in the community on its 40th Anniversary. Among the attendees were the project's returning Architect Raymond Beeler (Gallin Beeler Design Studio) and representatives from SCC Construction Management and Patriot Organization Construction Services.

We hear a lot about food pantries for people in need these days, but pets are "people," too. On Saturday, July 11, Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons (ARF) in Wainscott collected donations of pet food for our furry friends. On Saturday, July 18, cars lined up at ARF to collect the donations (socially distanced, of course). Executive Director and CEO Scott Howe was on the front lines with the volunteers, handing out the goodies.
