The party at Tavern
After a week of forecasts for less than perfect weather, it was a sweet surprise when the weekend weather cooperated every day and saved its showers for the evening hours. Although Saturday started out a bit on the cool side, the more intrepid folks made their way to the beach and shoppers were seen in their spaghetti-strapped tops and flip-flops. Each day was better than the next and the parties iced the end of each.

got off the ground with a launch party on Saturday at the swanky summer rental of Russian heiress Anna Anisimova
followed by a red hot after party at The Tavern in Southampton. And there was cause for further celebration (okay, who needs an excuse to party?) for the birthdays of supermodel Ana Beatriz
and Victoria's Secret
model Alessandro Ambrosio

was the cream of the crop at the Blue & Cream party on Sunday...
Tonin MacCallum, Barbara Ostrum, Ann Pyne, Betty Sherill
A more genteel crowd made up the A-list at the Hamptons Designer Showhouse
party on Sunday. The lovely evening cocktail party was timed at the Mayfare estate, home of Betty and Virgil Sherrill
, for watching the sun set over Agawam...
We'd love to give you the skinny about the parties at The Star Room but apparently our credentials were not gilded so we were sent to the back of a very long line by a VERY large bouncer when we arrived around 11 p.m. Our sources tell us that on Friday night the MTV
Power Girls - Lizzie Grubman
and pals - partied at the Star Room. On Saturday, Robert Iler
of Soprano's fame was spotted celebrating opening night by dancing on tables. And, the adorable Mandy Moore
was there but refused to pose for photographers, must be camera shy. On Sunday, the Star Room hosted the "Kick off the Summer in the Hamptons" party with Baby Phat and Phat Farm. The stylish heads of both companies, Russell and Kimora Lee Simmons
, were in attendance...
The Tavern's opening party was huge with the crowd spilling from indoors to out. How do those bouncers deal with endless stories about self-importance? We managed to make our way to the VIP (really?) balcony area where the atmosphere was more festive but many Manolo's were doused by spilled drinks, an inescapable hazard when a crowd is in full party mode. The main dance floor was less crowded but getting more so by the minute as the crowd got loose. New this year is an outdoor-tented dance floor, a boon for smokers who can't imagine holding a drink in one hand without a cigarette in the other. The Door to the VIP room was guarded by an even larger bouncer and angry looking fire marshal. The VIP (aren't well all?) room was busting at the seams and the fire marshal was not happy. Anyone who left was not allowed back in so we gave up trying to convince the bouncer how important we were. And, since this is the first weekend party marathon we were ready for a refueling of strong 7-Eleven coffee...
CAIN at Cabana should be one of the hottest spots in Southampton as evident Saturday night. The fire marshal showed up twice around midnight threatening to shut the club down because of noise complaints. The promoters managed to clear off the front so the party continued with Richard Johnson
(of Page Six) and Al and Star Jones Reynolds
taking it all in until 1am. Star noted that "finally, St. Tropez has reached the Hamptons." There is a party coming up this weekend for Allur Magazine writer Jeff Slonim
Dave Richardson, Sheldon Tannen, Si Anthony
It would not be Memorial Day weekend without Southampton Hospital
's 26th Annual Memorial Day Weekend Party, the time-honored kickoff for the Hamptons summer season. The Meadowcroft estate on Quantuck Bay in Quiogue was the bucolic setting on Sunday for this soiree that saluted the venerable Sheldon Tannen
of 21 Club fame and former Southampton Hospital board member. The best restaurants offered tastes of their finest fare and local wineries showcased the finest wines. A lively auction of trips and spa treatments were a highlight of the evening. Hats off to Mary Malhotra
and Barbara Sartorius
, the event's co-chairs of the event. The décor was whimsical with pink polka-dot tablecloths and pink doors pulling the guests in. Southampton Hospital CEO Annette Leahy
opened the evening with introductions of key players at Southampton Hospital.
