I was worried Southampton Hospital
Gala Chair Laura Lofaro Freeman
was going to tell me, "my eyes are ten inches higher," but she simply said, "The necklace is Graff." It was blindingly spectacular.
"It's out first year sponsoring," Graff Diamonds
VP of Marketing, Courtney Smith
explained. "And we're proud supporters. We're known for the most fabulous jewels in the world, the most extraordinary diamonds. More historic gemstones have passed through Mr. Graff's hands than any other. It's a perfect alignment with the hospital."

Freeman directed our attention to the Graff bedecked models standing in front of race cars. "The theme tonight is Grand Prix Monaco," Laura said. "And the cars all raced in the Grand Prix Monaco and won in their different years. So these cars are all very special. My husband has been racing as an avocation for the last 30 years. And he got these cars from all parts of North America." One car was from the 1930s.
Being a wussy type who won't even get on a motorcycle, I wondered if Freeman worried when hubby raced. "When I met him, he was already doing this," she replied. "I can't get him to stop and it actually keeps him in shape. You can't get your license unless you have good health."
Good health was certainly the topic at hand. Freeman, who has been involved with the hospital for the past ten years, said the charity was a natural fit. "My father was a surgeon so I grew up in a family of physicians. My son is a doctor, my niece, my nephew, my brother, my brother-in-law. So I know what it means to really have excellent health care. And so, we live here. We work here. We play here. We need to have the best emergency room possible. And if everybody does a little bit..."
