Montauk - On Saturday, November 27, The Montauk Lighthouse held its third annual lighting of the Lighthouse. Thousands of people joined in the celebration of this 214 year old landmark.

The Montauk Lighthouse is the fourth oldest Lighthouse in continuous operation in the U.S. and the first Lighthouse built in New York state. Joe Gaviola, a member of the Lighthouse committee of the Montauk Historical Society, welcomed the visitors and introduced this year's honoree, East Hampton Town Supervisor Bill Wilkinson, who activated "the switch" that turned on the lights.

The lighthouse will be illuminated until Sunday, January 2, 2011.

The big man himself made the scene in Montauk.
