Typically held at Bay Burger in Sag Harbor, The Jam Session & The Thursday Night Live Band is switching things up during February. The concerts will take place at Wolffer Estate Vineyards on Thursday nights from 6 to 8 p.m.
“The Jam Session is a performance series for local and global musicians to perform live and be broadcast on our weekly radio show on NPR station, WPPB 88.3 FM,” noted Claes Brondal, Co-founder of The Jam Session and drummer in The Thursday Night Live Band. “Grammy Award winning and high profile musicians are regularly our special guests, as well as up and coming musicians.”
Alto Saxophonist Jim Snidero will be the first special guest of the month on Thursday, February 5th. Sessions are recorded for WPPB 88.3FM Peconic Public Broadcasting and can be heard on Wednesdays at 7 p.m.
“In the 1960s I used to go to the jazz bars in Greenwich Village and in the “Caves” of Paris and see the greatest jazz musicians for just the price of a beer. Over the years, those venues have disappeared,” said a Jam Session enthusiast. “The past few years, The Jam Session in Sag Harbor has been having the old fashion Jazz Jam on Thursday nights. The musicians and singers are truly world-class and the venue is small, local friendly and reminds me of the ’60s minus the cigarette smoke.”
