The Sag Harbor Historical Society
is hosting a holly, jolly holiday experience on Sunday, December 1. A Holiday Open House, open to all, will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Annie Cooper Boyd House in Sag Harbor.
"The Sag Harbor Historical Society works tirelessly to keep the Annie Cooper Boyd House open as a Sag Harbor treasure," Nancy Remkus
of the Sag Harbor History Society shared. "Part of that mission is inviting our friends and neighbors in for fun community events."
The afternoon will feature story time and a book signing with Billy Baldwin
, author of The Cookie That Saved Christmas
- an "uplifting tale about courageous children overcoming adversity through a combination of clever thinking and Christmas Spirit!," as well as a cheerful sing-a-long led by Remkus, holiday crafts for children, and seasonal refreshments.
"We want people to see the historic house and the paintings of Annie Cooper Boyd which help to tell the story of Sag Harbor's history," Remkus explained.
For those looking to fit in a little holiday shopping, The Cookie That Saved Christmas
will be available for purchase, as will books regarding the history of Sag Harbor. Baldwin is donating a portion of The Cookie That Saved Christmas
sales from the event to the Sag Harbor Historical Society.
"This December 1st we are inviting everyone to share in the holiday spirit and join us for our Holiday Open House," Remkus relayed. "There will be holiday songs, crafts for the kids, refreshments and an author share and book signing."
There is no admission fee to attend the Holiday Open House.
The Historical Society's mission is to "promote and encourage public education and appreciation with respect to the history of the Village of Sag Harbor, and to foster and otherwise work for the preservation of the historic buildings, sites and other materials."
"We need the support of our community in order to help keep the history of Sag Harbor alive," Remkus concluded.
