The Montauk Playhouse Community Center Foundation (MPCCF), a 501c3 nonprofit, is throwing an end-of-summer celebration at Rick's Crabby Cowboy Café in Montauk on Thursday, August 29.

Dubbed Gone Local, the soiree will feature live music from Montauk's own the Nancy Atlas Project, irresistible hors d'oeuvres, and an open bar.

Proceeds from the evening will support MPCCF's efforts to repurpose the historic Montauk Playhouse venue with the addition of a multipurpose venue that includes a Aquatic Center and Cultural Arts Center. Since 2006, half of the Montauk Playhouse Community Center has been operational and the Foundation is currently focused on raising the funding to complete the entirety of the historic building. The renovations will add an Aquatic Center with a 25-yard fitness pool, as well as 30'x 30' leisure pool, and the second floor will be home to a Cultural Arts Center, a multi-use event space that could be used for a myriad of happenings, including theater performances, small and large gatherings, lectures, and conferences.

"We invite the whole community to join us at this fun community celebration, as we continue to work towards our goal of bringing an Aquatic and Cultural Center to Montauk!" Julia McCormack, MPCCF's Director of Development, encouraged.

Gone Local will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $175 in advance and $200 at the door, if available.

Rick's Crabby Cowboy Café is located at 435 East Lake Drive in Montauk. For more information, visit montaukplayhouse.org.
