The Valpo Surf Project Amagansett Benefit will support the Valpo Surf Project's work in the poorest neighborhoods of Valparaíso, Chile, which are plagued by crime, drug abuse, and persistent unemployment. VSP offers a support network through surfing, continual mentorship, academic tutoring, and environmental stewardship to engage, enlighten, and inspire students to better their own lives, as well as have a positive impact on their communities.
"Proceeds from the event had an incredible impact on our students and programming," Todd noted. "We're really counting on the Hamptons community to turn out again and support the important work we do."
Since its founding in 2010, the Valpo Surf Project has worked with more than 650 students through collaborations with community organizations, schools, and a juvenile detention and rehabilitation center spearheaded by Chile's department of youth services.
"On top of our event on Saturday, ARC Fine Arts LLC (145 Main Street, Amagansett) will be donating 25 percent of profits from Thom Gilbert's new book Waves: Pro Surfers and Their World
to the VSP sold over the weekend," McLagan noted. "Don't miss out on all these awesome ways to support the Valpo Surf Project!"
Admission to the Valpo Surf Project Amagansett Benefit is free.
