The fundraiser's 5th iteration invites all to join "Operation Rise Up," as proceeds from the evening will support Operation International and the Carlos Beltran Foundation. Both of these organizations will use funding to aid struggling Puerto Rico hospitals in areas that saw the most devastation after Hurricane Maria, with the goal of helping Puerto Rico "Rise Up" from Hurricane Maria.
"Our goal has always been to guarantee that all proceeds go directly to the charities involved," Bridgehampton Equities Founder Jason E. Zimmerman, who founded the Bridgehampton Benefit, noted. "Each year we begin with a small budget, and each year- we fund the event in its entirety to ensure nothing is taken away from the amount raised. We have never regretted that decision."
Beltran founded The Carlos Beltran Foundation (Fundacion Carlos Beltran) (CBF), a non-profit organization, back in 2002 to shine a spotlight on and assist with the revitalization of Puerto Rico through disaster relief, education and sports. Its mission is "raising funds for the CBBA so that it can continue to offer exemplary academic and sports education to the youth of Puerto Rico."
"That's what it's all about, it's about not what we can do for ourselves, but what we can do for others," Beltran said about giving back.
Medhat Allam, MD, FACS, a board-certified general and bariatric surgeon at Southampton, and Ravi Kothuru, MD, and Robert Mineo, CRNA, co-founded Operation International, a secular, non-political, humanitarian non-profit organization whose "mission is to change and save as many lives as possible, by providing free medical care to people in need regardless of gender, cultural, ethnic, political, or religious affiliation, in countries around the world."
Bridgehampton Benefit: The Official Carlos Beltran Retirement Party will take place from 6 to 11 p.m. and an after party will follow. There will also be a VIP Friday Dinner Party with celebrity guests, Saturday podcast interview with Beltran and friends, and Sunday Pool Party hosted by Jack Brewer.
