The 27th Annual Hamptons Tea Dance
, held in support of SAGE and Callen-Lorde
Community Health Center (Callen-Lorde), will take over Nova's Ark Project in Water Mill on Saturday, July 13. The 2019 Tea Dance is particularly momentous, as it will officially be recognized as a World Pride Event.
"Each year the Hamptons Tea Dance brings together members of LGBTQ communities and our allies in the Hamptons for a day of revelry in one of the most bucolic sites on Long Island," shared Donnie Roberts, Senior Director of Development and Communications at Callen-Lorde Community Health Center.
From 4 to 8 p.m., attendees will enjoy music from DJ Frankie Sharp, who will no doubt have the dance floor packed, and there will be a special performance by Yuhua Hamasaki, who was on Season 10 of RuPaul's Drag Race
. Guests can also enjoy specialty sips from Tito's Handmade Vodka
, as well as wine from Polaner and beer from Montauk Brewing Co.
"For almost 30 years our community has used this event to raise money to support programming for LGBTQ advocacy and services. We at Callen-Lorde are honored to be a part of the event again this year with our partners at SAGE," Roberts added.
Once again the Nova's Ark Project's field will be embellished with a 50-foot segment of the mile-long rainbow flag created by Gilbert Baker for Stonewall 25 in New York in remembrance of the 25th anniversary of the gay civil rights movement. Back in 1994, the mile-long flag was certified by the Guinness
Book of World Records as the world's largest flag.
Tickets to the Tea Dance, a LGBTQ tradition in the Hamptons since 1992, start at $150.
