The Retreat, the East End’s sole domestic violence agency, is once again inviting all to join them during the annual All Against Abuse Gala on Saturday, June 8 at 6:30 p.m. at The Muses in Southampton.
“All Against Abuse is an important fundraiser for The Retreat but also an evening for all of us to come together and celebrate survivors and the incredible work provided over the last three decades,” Loretta K. Davis, Executive Director of The Retreat, relayed. “The Retreat would not exist without the support of our East End communities. We are so grateful.”
Originally dubbed Artists Against Abuse, the fundraiser was later renamed All Against Abuse, as all are welcome to support the vital non-profit.
Several well-known names, including CNN Tonight with Don Lemon anchor Don Lemon, award-winning producer Regina K. Scully, actress Joy Behar, actor Alan and Arlene Alda, and more, are expected to join in on the celebration.
Lemon will host the affair, while Scully will be fêted as the All Against Abuse Champion. Scully is the Founder and CEO of Artemis Rising Foundation, an organization committed to championing media projects that transform our culture by raising awareness of social injustices and inspiring change. Miss Representation, Roll Red Roll, and The Hunting Ground are among Scully’s projects.
As per usual, there will be one-of-a-kind artist designed plates showcased during the Gala’s signature auction. This year, John Battle, Scott Bluedorn, Stephanie Brody-Lederman, Michael Butler, Bill Claps, Gabby Karan, Barbara Maslen, and Gabriele Raacke have donated masterpieces. Additional auction items will include field level Yankees tickets, an Oheka Castle overnight stay and breakfast, a 3 hour in-home organizing session, in-home hair cut and blow dry, New York Rangers premium box seats, in-home yoga and reiki, Flying Point Surf Camp, and much more.
There will be music by Sidney Sahyr, as well as Valerie diLorenzo accompanied by Amanda Jones. Bites will be provided by Art of Eating, while sips will spotlight Bedell Cellars and Raphael Vineyards.
Established in 1987, The Retreat provides a safe haven for families in crisis. The non-profit has assisted over 6,000 individuals since its founding. Services offered include a 24-hour bilingual hotline, counseling, legal advocacy, prevention education, and emergency shelter. In 2017 alone, The Retreat reached 5,702 students with prevention education and responded to 3,467 hotline calls.
Over the past three decades, All Against Abuse has raised over $2.5 million in support of The Retreat’s mission to provide safety, shelter and support for victims of domestic abuse and to break the cycle of family violence.
“Working with the community and Retreat supporters for the All Against Abuse Gala is always empowering. People are so generous and involved with the issue,” explained Kim Nichols, Development Director. “It really becomes ALL against abuse.”
