Valpo Surf Project is a youth mentorship organization dedicated to helping children affected by violent crimes, drug abuse or chronic unemployment in the poorest of neighborhoods in Valparaiso, Chile. Through surfing, as well as tutoring and environmental stewardship, the organization moves to motivate and educate students.
In eight years, VSP has worked with over 600 students through other community organizations, schools, and a juvenile detention and rehab center run by Chile's youth services department.
"All proceeds from the event will directly support the education, mentorship, and development of our 164 at-risk students in Chile," McLagan added.
