A superhero-themed fundraiser will descend upon Children’s Museum of the East End (CMEE) on Saturday, June 2. The June Fête, Celebrating Heroes Among Us, will commemorate comics legend Frank Miller – who penned Ronin, Daredevil: Born Again, The Dark Knight Returns, Sin City, 300 and other notable titles – and local heroes Barrie Glabman, a CMEE Trustee for over seven years and former Co-Chair of the Board, and Adam Schwartz, founder and CEO of Articulate.
“A strong commitment to the community is what sets the Children’s Museum apart,” explained CMEE Executive Director, Steve Long. “It is a place where new mothers find support, children learn through play, and parents are empowered. And, it is this community commitment that spurred the decision to return the Museum’s annual fundraiser for grownups to Bridgehampton.”
As attendees mingle with the real life heroes among us, they will enjoy cocktails, music and dancing, a live auction and more.
“Since this is a place where children play and have the time of their lives, we thought it was the ideal location to demonstrate what a difference we make for young families,” Long said. “During June Fête, we hope that attendees will play and have the time of their lives, too.”
The June Fête will help CMEE introduce a new program aimed at former CMEE-goers.
“Proceeds from the fundraiser will help launch a unique serving learning initiative where teens can help CMEE address vital needs in the community,” he added.
Open to students in grades 8 to 12, the Teen Community Service Program will allow those that spent time at CMEE while growing up to come back to acquire real world experience in a multitude of different disciplines from staff, as well as serve as role models for current CMEE-goers.
CMEE was founded in 1997 with the goal of “sparking imagination and fostering learning for children of all backgrounds and abilities and to build strong connections within the East End community by providing playful experiences.”
The June Fête will take place from 6:30 to 11 p.m. Admission is $650.
