On Saturday, June 10, The Gabby Wild Foundation will present the inaugural Catwalk for Canines at Southampton Social Club. The ethical and eco-friendly fashion show will support Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation (SASF).
“Catwalk for Canines is a joint partnership of goodness from fashion to animal welfare to women’s rights that is manifested as an ethical and eco-fashion show raising money and adopting out shelter dogs off our runway,” shared wildlife veterinarian and National Geographic Kids educator Dr. Gabby Wild, who founded the event. “While the fashion industry notoriously abuses animals, let this be an event to reverse that stigma and use fashion for good: saving shelter dogs.”
Models donning ready-to-wear and couture fashion designs from Deià – Barbara D’Altoè’s fashion house, Maison Ròde, Marita Wrong, MXN Clothing and Pelush will guide the cutest SASF canines as they strut their stuff down the Hamptons runway.
“Join The Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation as we team up with Dr. Gabby Wild and Hamptons.com for Catwalk for Canines. Our shelter dogs will be walking the catwalk with models and our volunteers,” noted Kate McEntee, Director of Adoptions at Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation. “All the dogs are available for adoption, so if you are looking for a forever friend – come see them strut their stuff!” So, not only will you be lusting after the chic runway looks, you may even leave with a new adorable four-legged family member.
Additionally, Catwalk for Canines will feature a silent auction and raffle, with funds benefiting The Gabby Wild Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit founded by Dr. Wild that pairs on-the-ground conservation programs for endangered animals with artistic events to shine a light on the important cause. “The uniqueness, non-kill, efficiency, and animal welfare programs makes it a no-brainer to support The Southampton Animal Foundation and ensure their much-needed work continues further,” shared Dr. Wild.
Catwalk for Canines was founded to raise awareness of SASF’s welfare initiatives and showcase ethical and sustainable fashion practices.
The Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, is one of the area’s leading “No-Kill” animal shelters, serving the towns of Bridgehampton, Eastport, East Quogue, Flanders, Hampton Bays, Northampton, North Haven, North Sea, Noyac, Quogue, Remsenburg, Riverside, Sag Harbor, Sagaponack, Shinnecock Hills, Speonk, Southampton, Tuckahoe, Water Mill, Westhampton, Westhampton Beach, and West Hampton Dunes. SASF’s mission is to “provide for the welfare of animals and reduce the number of homeless pets—and we are committed to our goal which is to promote and nurture the bond between people and animals through adoption, education and community outreach.”
“All tickets sales go directly to the shelter,” added McEntee. “Support our shelter and our dogs at this great event!”
Catwalk for Canines will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is $65.
