The birds are chirping, the flowers are blooming, and the weather has been flirting with early summerlike temperatures – all signs that it’s time to gather at the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill for the Parrish’s annual Spring Fling.
On Saturday, April 22, from 7:30 to 11 p.m., the Parrish will host its beloved yearly community celebration, fundraiser, and networking event that supports the Museum’s year-round educational programs for children and adults. Christine Curiale-Steinmuller, Maryanne Horwath, and Laura Wynne will serve as Spring Fling co-chairs.
“Spring Fling helps to raise essential support for the Museum’s year-round children’s education programs, as well as Access Parrish, a recent initiative for children and adults with special needs, including visitors with dementia and their care partners,” explained Horwath. “I’m proud to be a part of Spring Fling, making important programs like these possible in our community.”
Partygoers will revel in the season as music from NOIZ, a dance band that has been featured on Fox 5 Good Day NY fills the Lichtenstein Theater with an eclectic mix of R&B, pop, dance, and hip hop hits. When attendees need a break from the dance floor, they can enjoy cocktails from the open bar and nosh on hors d’oeuvres provided by Elegant Affairs, and don’t forget to document the festive affair with friends in the photo booth.
Spring Fling will also feature an extraordinary silent auction with goods and services donated by the East End business and professional community. Highlights include a 16-person golf outing at Hampton Hills Golf & Country Club followed by a reception with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, a Tulum vacation, a river fishing package from River Bay Outfitters, VIP tickets to The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, a private cabana for an evening at Southampton Social Club, and several gift certificates for products and services from Hamptons shops, spas, and restaurants.
Additionally, guests will have access to The Permanent Collection: Materiality and Process, a collection of 90 paintings, sculptures, mixed-media, and works on paper showcased in nine thematic narratives that explore the varied ways modern and contemporary artists have taken to creative processes and materials, and Parrish Perspectives: New Works in Context, over 70 works from the more than 300 acquisitions that have been added to the Museum’s collection since the Parrish moved to its Water Mill location in 2012.
Spring Fling, which was established back in the 1990s, currently raises over $100,000 annually for the Parrish’s education programs. Through funds from the benefit, the Museum launched Access Parrish, a new program for children on the Autism spectrum and adults with Alzheimer’s or dementia, and their care givers, in 2016.
Tickets to the Parrish Art Museum’s Spring Fling are $100 for young professionals, $150 for members, and $225 for non-members.
