"The Hamptons has a huge amount of authors and many who have even written part or all of their books here," remarked Director of East Hampton Library, Dennis Fabiszak. "We have a lot of authors that actually write inside the Library. To have an event that celebrates them and the books they write is really a wonderful thing for us to be able to do. It's also a statement when the largest and most heavily attended event in East Hampton each summer is a book event, considering everything else that goes on around here."
The 2016 participating author list is quite extensive including Kate Betts, Louis Begley, Douglas Brinkley, Tom Clavin
, Scott Cowen, Delia Ephron
, Florence Fabricant
, Ina Garten
, Paul Goldberger, Michael Gross
, Ally Hilfiger
, Amb. Christopher R. Hill, Katherine Holabird, Erica Jong, Jeffrey Lyons, Fern Mallis
, Matt Marinovich, William Norwich, Chris Pavone, Ted Rall, Wade Rouse, Jean Shafiroff
, Michael Shnayerson, Garth Stein, Michael Weiss, Marianne Williamson, and Vincente Wolf. The complete roster of participating authors can be found on the Authors Night's website.
When asked how this event has remained so successful after more than a decade Fabiszak replied, "The Library has been here for 118 years and we have a great history working with authors and supporting writing."
"We go out of our way to let the authors and publishers know how important they are to us. We spend a lot of time thinking about this event and planning it," he explained. "We've continued to improve it every year."

The evening will begin at 5 p.m. with the Author Book Signing Cocktail Reception under the tent. Come with an appetite for the delicious hors d'oeuvres and wine. Guests will have the opportunity to mix and mingle with the authors, buy their books, and have them personally signed.
At 8 p.m., attendees have the opportunity to be hosted at dinner parties at private homes in honor of one of the guest authors. The evening is an excellent opportunity to celebrate great literature while meeting some of the most well-known authors of today.
"I hope that the event continues to attract great authors from around the world and inspire young authors that want to be part of it at some point," said Fabiszak. "We think it has become a great event and something that people look forward to each year, particularly having the chance to speak with authors. This event is very different from the other events that go on during the summer in the Hamptons because the celebrities and authors' sole purpose of being at Authors Night is to talk to all the guests, get to know them, talk about what they do and why they enjoy what they write. Everyone is very approachable at our event and we love that aspect."
Tickets are $100 for the book signing reception only and begin at $300 for the dinners, which includes entry to the book signing.
Authors Night will take place at 4 Maidstone Lane in East Hampton. For more information, contact the East Hampton Library at 631-324-0222 ext. 7 or visit www.authorsnight.org.
