On Thursday, May 7th, The Suffolk Community College Foundation is paying tribute to four notable business leaders during its annual Salute to Excellence Gala, “Financial Leaders Making a Difference.” The fundraiser will take place at the Hilton Long Island in Melville, starting at 7 p.m.
The evening will honor Bill Brown, Executive Vice President, US Head of Network, HSBC Bank USA, N.A.; Gregory S. Garritano, founder of G.S. Garritano & Associates and chief financial officer of The Lauro Group; The Honorable John C. Cochrane, Sr., vice president, First National Bank of Long Island and Captain, United States Navy, Retired and David L. Calone, Founder, Long Island Emerging Technologies Fund, LP.
Proceeds from the soiree will support need and merit-based scholarships, emergency student loans and quality academic enrichment programs at Suffolk County Community College. Last year, The Foundation allotted over $550,000 in scholarships.
“The mission of the Foundation is to reduce the economic barriers to higher education and foster student success,” noted Dr. Sylvia Diaz, Executive Director of the Suffolk Community College Foundation.
