It was an autumn-like evening at the Children’s Museum of the East End (CMEE), where more than 200 guests gathered to support the Museum during their inaugural Arabian Nights Gala on Saturday, August 16, 2014.
The Moroccan themed-affair showcased the newly constructed mini golf course, where attendees could participate in “Scheherazade’s One Thousand and One Shots,” a round of Arabian Nights mini golf. Poker was another popular activity, as the tables were filled the entire night.
Critically acclaimed DJ, Hesta Prynn, rocked under the beautifully decorated tent complete with lanterns and a dance floor. Guests could enjoy a show of snake charming with two pythons and fire dancing that came right into the crowd, whether they were ready or not. Guests embraced the Moroccan themed, as gold and silver flash tattoos of several different intricate designs could be spotted adorned by guests along with Middle Eastern bracelets and multi colored belly-dancing skirts with gold coins attached.
The festive affair raised over $250,000, and all of the proceeds will go toward the ongoing capital campaign that will help update the exhibits at the Museum to ensure its long-term sustainably for future generations.
