Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons (ARF) is kick starting summer 2014 in the Hamptons with their preview cocktail party and sale on Saturday, May 24, at the ARF Thrift and Treasure Shop in Sagaponack. The event is chaired by Gordon Hoppe, Gigi Mahon and Sandra McConnell along with Vice Chairs Peter Hallock and Lisa McCarthy.
This year’s honorary chair is Fern Mallis, a leader in the fashion industry and founder of New York Fashion Week. More than 200 guests from the world of interior design and the Hamptons’ social community are expected to attend the preview cocktail party, which will feature a vodka bar, wine donated by Channing Daughters Winery, and hors d’oeuvres donated by the Dancing Gourmet.
The thrift shop will be taking on a new look, as it has been transformed into a gorgeous Designer Showhouse by some of New York’s most sought after interior designers–John Bjørnen, Suzanne Caldwell and Maria Greenlaw, Bryon C. James, Chris Mead, Scott Sanders and Rod Winterowd. The designers all share a passion for design and a love for animals. They will be donating their time and expertise to help the animals who are less fortunate. Unlike other Designer Showhouses, the Thrift Shop Showhouse’s interior pieces, which include both items from the ARF Thrift Shop and pieces from the designer’s own collection, will all be for sale. All proceeds will benefit the Animal Rescue Fund to help find permanent and loving homes for the animals in need. Perhaps more desirable than the items in the Showhouse are the adorable animals ARF will have for adoption at the event.
Doors open for the preview cocktail party at 5 p.m., and tickets for the preview hour are $250. General Admission tickets, which are $150, allow entry at 6 p.m. The thrift shop suggests a donation of ten dollars for adults (children are free) on Sunday, May 25 and Monday, May 26. All sold items will remain in the in the Showhouse until Tuesday, May 27, at which point those who have purchased items may pick up their treasures.
