“Dance Is Now” kicks off a new initiative at the Southampton Cultural Center devoted to shining a spotlight on dance performance and education. The Gala Benefit Fundraising Dance Performance on Saturday, May 3, will be present a collaborative contemporary program from three popular dance studios.
Diane Shumway of Studio 3, James R. West of Hamptons Dance Authority and Megan Callahan of DanseArts have created the showcase using today’s popular music, a mixture of genres and a combination of several professional and amateur dancers.
The program will be introduced by Masters of Ceremony, Benjamin Avram and Dawn Watson. A cocktail reception with refreshments provided by The Southampton Publick House and Deli Counter Fine Foods in the gallery will follow the show.
The fundraiser aims to enable a permanent and ongoing commitment to the performance and education of dance to be presented at the Southampton Cultural Center. Additional performances of “Dance Is Now” are currently being scheduled for later in the year as well as for 2015 and beyond.
Tickets are $45 and doors open at 5:30 p.m. The performance is set to begin at 6 p.m.
