On Sunday, September 2nd, during the afternoon, the Hampton Racquet Club will host a PRO/AM round-robin tournament for tennis players of all ages and all skill sets that will benefit The Retreat
, the east end's only domestic violence service organization. In addition to the Pro/AM round robin tournament, day festivities will include; tennis clinics providing helpful hints from pros; tennis program for younger children on customized smaller courts; a practice wall; complimentary Bar-B-Q and beverages; face painting; a Bouncy Castle; and a natural log playground.
Hampton Racquet Club founder and well-known pro, John Graham
, and his sister, philanthropist Monica Graham, have been supporters of The Retreat for many years. When Retreat Board member Ayse Kenmore of East Hampton approached the Grahams about hosting an event at their state-of-the-art facility, the answer was immediate: "Just tell everyone to bring their racquet and appetite. We'll take care of everything else." Advance registration is highly suggested as attendance is limited and spots are filling up quickly.
"This is a wonderful example of how people can make a difference and inspire others. With domestic violence on the rise, this fundraiser could not come at a more important time. We are very grateful to John and Monica Graham for their generosity and kindness to east end families," said The Retreat's Executive Director, Jeffrey Friedman
Costs include: $200 for Pro-Am, $100 for clinics (for all ages), $50 for spectators (with a maximum cost of $100 per family), and kids under 12 are free. The event starts at 2 p.m. and runs until 6 p.m. Please call the club to register. Advance registration is highly suggested as attendance is limited and spots are filling up quickly.
Thanks to the generosity of the Graham Family Foundation, every donation made by participants is fully tax-deductible and will go directly to The Retreat to assist families in crisis.
