You've all seen that commercial where the wife sends her husband to Rock 'n Roll Camp, well All Music Inc. officially opened their new Hauppauge based Rock 'n Roll University, which will focus on getting kids into bands and then helping them with booking performances at clubs, recording a CD and with other steps on their road to rock stardom.
Since 1984, when acts like Long Island's own Twisted Sister
and Pat Benatar
were at the top, All Music Inc. has been the starting point for many beginning musicians, countless intermediate players and a home for professional musicians as well. "Our years of exceptional customer service and of bonding with our customers as kindred spirits of sorts have helped turn the tide against the big box stores in our favor; thankfully, our notoriety and sales has been steadily increasing year after year" said Guy Brogna
, co-owner of All Music Inc.
When you couple this working man's ethos with the fact that the store boasts over 10,000 instruments in stock and over 1,000 guitars on display, it's easy to see why. All Music Inc. offers everyone who steps down their stairs the greatest musical experience imaginable; a music store for musicians by musicians - helping players in both Nassau and Suffolk county achieve their dreams!
Founding owner Irwin Natman
stated "Our mission is to educate our customers and spend the necessary time to answer all of their questions, as well as build and cultivate a musical relationship that will last a lifetime
" and they accomplish this through a variety of means.
Additionally, every musician knows there is nothing like the thrill of playing live, so All Music Inc. supports musicians in the community by hosting a yearly free event known as the "Rock The Lot" party which gives up and coming bands the opportunity to do what they love most while the bands promote the event to friends, family and the community, so 'rock on' and for more information www.allmusicinc.com or call the store directly at 516-433-6969.

The King of Preppy has now gone Pop! Tommy Hilfiger
has introduced to Los Angeles, Prep World, a Spring/Summer 2011 limited edition capsule collection of 60 pieces for men and women. The collection will be housed in a first-of-its-kind Pop-Up house, which is traveling to key cities around the globe this spring and summer - Paris, New York, London, Stockholm, Los Angeles, Madrid, Milan, Sylt, Germany and Knokke, Belgium. In the U.S., the initiative launched in New York in early May with a VIP event hosted by Hilfiger and prep aficionado and author Lisa Birnbach
The Prep World Pop-Up house is designed to resemble an authentic beach house found on the East Coast, with aged shingles, copper
gutters and navy window shutters making up the foundation and a pink front door adding the quirky Tommy twist. The interior fuses vintage and modern design, while an art installation center piece "tennis racket" chandelier completes the ultra preppy space.
"While celebrating our 25th Anniversary all around the globe in 2010, I realized the preppy look with a twist we pioneered over the years has gone global; every corner of the world interprets it in different ways," said Hilfiger. "I developed the Prep World capsule collection to capture that spirit of adaptability and individuality and what better way to showcase it than in a traveling authentic beach house."
The Prep World Pop-Up house will feature the Prep World collection, which celebrates Tommy Hilfiger's heritage of preppy classics with a twist. The collection also features limited edition preppy paraphernalia, including "Family Crest" fridge magnets, "A Prep's Best Friend" doggie leashes, and "On the Lawn" croquet sets.
Hilfiger invited renowned prep expert Birnbach, author of "The Official Preppy Handbook" and "True Prep: It's a Whole New Old World," to join him in the launch of Prep World around the globe. "Tommy Hilfiger has always been a pioneer of our quirky aesthetic," she said. "We might have gone to prep school, or been thrown out of prep school, or lived near a prep school, but even without a direct connection to a private school, we get the aesthetic of sportswear and owning clothes until they are worn and comfy cozy." Summer 2011 marks the 25th Anniversary of the movie "Top Gun," and for those of us who watched its premiere, we can remember fantasizing about flying an F-16 with Tom Cruise
, Val Kilmer
and Tom Skerritt
. But Dave "Bio" Baranek
didn't have to fantasize, he actually performed the deadly aerial maneuvers that made "Maverick," "Iceman" and "Viper" household names.

Bio was one of 451 young men to become a Navy Flight Officer in 1980, and the only one that year to become a much-feared-and-respected Topgun instructor; an honor awarded only to the "best of the best." So when Hollywood green-lighted an obscure script for a movie about the elite Naval Fighter Weapons School (a/k/a Topgun), they knocked on Bio's door, and the rest is history. "Top Gun" the movie quickly became an out-of-nowhere, runaway blockbuster that earned $353 million worldwide, catapulted Cruise into superstardom, and made American fighter pilots a cultural icon.
In his memoir "TopGun Days," Bio not only takes the reader into the cockpit during the breathtaking aerial moves that made the movie great, he gives an inside view of people that make Topgun the best fighter training school in the world. Bio recalls the experience of being (what he terms) a "regular guy" who was thrown into the whirlwind of Hollywood, from gala premiers and celebrity sightings, to world renown and screaming teens.
Written in a style that can only be rendered by a dangerous pilot and a top expert in the field, "TopGun Days" is not just a fast, fun read, but an experience. Strap yourself into a Navy fighter jet and feel the rush caused by roaring afterburners, supersonic shockwaves, intense G-Forces, and Hollywood glamour. From beginning to end, "TopGun Days" (Skyhorse Publishing, Hardcover Original, $24.95) is quite a ride! Learn more about Baranek at www.topgunbio.com.
