Peconic water sports located on Preston's Dock hopes to create a surge of excitement in Greenport this summer by offering wakeboarding, surfing, tubing, and waterskiing lessons to anyone who wants to learn.

Founded in 2011 by Captain and Professional Wakeboard Coach Joey Flotteron, Peconic Water Sports is the North Fork's first water sports company.

"The mission of our company is to get as many people out on the water as we can so they can learn a new sport, progress, have fun, and help build watersports culture out here," explained Flotteron.

Flotteron along with his brother and sister team provide training to all ages on brand new custom made Malibu wakeboard boats operated by United States Coast Guard Licensed Captains who are CPR and first aid certified. During training sessions Flotteron likes to have two coaches teaching at a time, especially with children to make the experience more comfortable.

The boats have 400 horsepower Indmar engines which provide comfort and support inside or while riding behind it. They also create waves, so students can practice balance, boarding skills, and become superb at riding waves. Coaches provide step-by-step directions to their students both in the water and in the boat. They are destined to show everyone how to have a good time.

These lessons are geared to anyone who wants to go on an exciting adventure and enjoy the beauty of the East End. The team offers pick up for trips that can be arranged at a variety of locations, and they travel to the best destination spots of the East End such as Greenport Harbor, Shelter Island, Peconic Bay, Sunset Beach, and Sag Harbor.

The company also has a children's water sport instructional program, called RIDE, which is geared for kids, ages 7 to 15, and it runs $700 per week, $150 per day, operating from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Monday through Friday.

Peconic Water Sports also provide custom charters, fishing charters, and cruises throughout Eastern Long Island. All programs require advanced reservations, which can be made by calling 609-937-9801. Lessons start at $295 for the one hour or $495 for two hours, for a boat carrying up to six people. Additional hours are $245.
