Green Hill Kitchen & Que in Greenport has joined the growing number of East End eateries that are championing our local healthcare workers by providing nutritious meals.
"Here at Green Hill we are proud to support local healthcare workers that are selflessly working incredibly long hours and facing daunting challenges in front of them on a daily basis," Chef Matt Boudreau and Green Hill Kitchen & Que Team explained. "The least we can do is make sure that they have a healthy, tasty weekly cooked meal with loads of love from all of us."
The Greenport restaurant made their first delivery on Friday, April 3 to Stony Brook Hospital. On Monday, April 6, Stony Brook Southampton Hospital
will be the recipient of the special dishes. The goodwill will continue on Saturday, April 11 with Eastern Long Island Hospital, and Peconic Bay Medical Center
is next up on Tuesday April 28. Green Hill Kitchen & Que plans to continue the donations for as long as needed and sustainable. "We dropped off 117 meals to Stony Brook Hospital. Every Monday, starting April 6 we're going to do 50 meals to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital
," the team shared. "Eastern Long Island Hospital and Peconic Bay Medical Center will receive 50 meals on April 11 (ELIH) and April 28 (PBMC)."
"The meals we delivered varied. There were fish, chicken, vegetarian, and shrimp options all delivered in individual labeled to-go containers," the team relayed about the Stony Brook Hospital drop off.
To help maximize the deliveries, Green Hill Kitchen & Que is partnering with local farms and fisherman, as well as New York Prime Beef
& Peter's Fruit Company, to procure dish items. "All of the meals will be based on the products we receive via donations and anything else we have available or in excess here at the restaurant," they noted. Those interested in donating to the restaurant's efforts can contact Green Hill Kitchen & Que at 631-477-4900. "Our resource is our culinary expertise and our facilities, we're happy to contribute some of our own products, but also happy to take any raw proteins, produce, or products we can use to prepare and cook the meals for the hospital staff," the team shared.
In addition to the donations to area hospitals, Green Hill Kitchen & Que has also launched a provisions line, with all proceeds from the Green Hill Provisions going directly to the eatery's staff fund to support the workers that have lost their jobs as a result of the industry shutdown. Green Hill Provisions features a myriad of items, encompassing beverages, dairy, dry goods, household items, meat and seafood, produce, wine and spirits, and ready to eat BBQ. Orders are placed online and delivered straight to clients' front door. Delivery, which is available 24 to 48 hours from the time the order is placed (may vary depending on demand), is available all across the East End. There is a $125 minimum order. Additionally, Green Hill Kitchen & Que is donating 50 percent of gift certificate proceeds to the staff fund.
"We're also participating locally in a pickup service that helps feed the elderly and the less fortunate," they added.
