During breast cancer awareness month, Tanger Outlets in Riverhead hosted a "Pink Card" campaign - where for a $10 donation, shoppers would receive a 25-percent unlimited-use savings card that was valid throughout the entire month at the majority of the Riverhead outlet stores.
The campaign raised nearly $17,000, which Tanger recently presented to the North Fork Breast Health Coalition.
"Tanger Outlets has always been very generous to the breast cancer community including the North Fork Breast Health Coalition. We are particularly mindful of that this holiday season, but we are also grateful for their steadfast support throughout the year for the past 20 years," reflected North Fork Breast Health Coalition President Susan Ruffini.
Tanger Outlets also sponsored North Fork Breast Health Coalition's 5K Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness on September 23. Held at the Riverhead location, approximately 320 walkers came out to support the fundraiser's 20th anniversary, raising almost $21,000 in support of local breast cancer patients.
The North Fork Breast Health Coalition, an all-volunteer, non-profit organization, provides aid to local breast-cancer patients through a variety of programs like Helping Hand grants. The Coalition offers several complimentary services such as gentle yoga, massage therapy, reflexology and guided mediation to breast-cancer patients and survivors.
